Cambridge roadrunner Midget AA's Win Gold in Hamilton
This past weekend the Roadrunner Midget AA's played in the
Hamilton Hawkey tournament and captured gold, going undefeated.
In round robin
play, the team won their first three games
by identical scores of 1-0 with wins over Hamilton Hawks, North Halton
Twisters, Sudbury Wolves. In game four of the round robin the Roadrunners downed a solid Toronto Leaside team by a score of 2-0.
The games were played with outstanding goaltending, rock
solid defense and a very determined forward group.
With the wins, the Roadrunners moved onto the championship game against a very hardworking, physical Hamilton team. In the waning minutes, the Roadrunners were able to tie the game 2-2 and force overtime. The game was very fast paced with lots of back and forth action. Starting the fourth period short handed, the Roadrunners were able to weather the storm and their superior team speed pressured a turn over in the Hamilton end. A quick D to D pass allowed a hard point shot to handcuff the oppositions goalie sending the Roadrunners into a wild, jubilant celebration with a well deserved 3-2 overtime win.
I would like to thank the players, parents, training and members of the coaching staff for an incredible and memorable hockey experience.
Well done.
Coach Fred
