Midget AA, 2016-2017, Travel (Cambridge roadrunners Girls' Hockey Association)

This past weekend the Roadrunner Midget AA's played in the Hamilton Hawkey tournament and captured gold, going undefeated. In round robin play, the team won their first three games by identical scores of 1-0 with wins over Hamilton Hawks, North Halton Twisters, Sudbury Wolves. In game four of the round robin the Roadrunners downed a solid Toronto Leaside team by a score of 2-0. The games were played with outstanding goaltending, rock solid defense and a very determined forward group.

The Midget AA team was in Brampton this past weekend where they participated in the 2Nations College Prep Series Tournament. Our team went 2 & 2 in Round Robin format. The girls opened the tournament with a 2-0 loss to the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers but rebounded with a 4-0 win over Rocky Mountain Colorado Roughriders and a 2-1 win over the Colorado Selects. They finished preliminary play with a 2-0 loss to the Thunder Bay Queens.

This past weekend the Midget AA Roadrunners travelled to Colgate University in New York state where they watched the Raiders, NCAA Division 1's 6th ranked women's team. They were host to the Syracuse Orange at their brand new hockey facility on Saturday afternoon. The game was fast paced and entertaining, with the Raiders rallying to finish in a 2-2 tie.

The Midget AA team has wrapped up the first month of their season. September saw the young, fast skating team play in its first tournament and series of exhibition games.

Congratulations to Rachel Buttinger and her teammates of the Ontario Red U16 Field Hockey Team in winning the Gold Medal at the Canadian National Field Hockey Championships that we held in Calgary, AB. An outstanding accomplishment for Rachel and her teammates. Coach Fred
