2017 CCM World Invite Detroit - CHAMPIONS
Congratulations to the Midget A Roadrunners on their hard work to a successful weekend in Detroit.

Friday started off (VERY early) with a very convincing 10-0 win over Milwaukee Jr. Admirals. Still feeling the effects of the early morning, the girls skated to another win, by defeating Troy Lady Sting by a score of 5-1.

Even with a Friday night off to rest up, the girls came out flat on Saturday morning but were still able to defeat the Alaskan Valley Thunder by a score of 2-1. Only allowing 2 goals against in the previous 3 games meant that Saturday's late afternoon game against the Chicago Jets required a win or a tie as we were tied in the division with 6 points a piece. The game was very physical but our Midget A's fought hard and came away with a 1-1 tie. This tie placed us in the semi finals Sunday morning.

Another early morning rise and off to the arena to take on the KV Ravens. Lose...we go home. Win...we go to the finals. Our girls battled and came away with a 4-1 win!! Off to the finals we went!

The finals match up was set - Cambridge Roadrunners vs Anchorage North Stars. Both teams had come a long way, worked hard and wanted to go home with a championship. Our girls battled hard and had many chances but could not get it passed the brick wall...a.k.a...their goalie. Our girls kept fighting. Late in the 3rd period, Sarah Bailey ripped a slap shot past the goalie and into the back of the net. Cambridge has a 1-0 lead. Now we just have to hold onto it. And that they did.

Every player contributed to a 5-0-1 record on the to the CHAMPIONSHIP!! It was a well deserved win.

Congratulations Midget A Roadrunners!! We are very proud of you.
