Atom Teal Roadrunners are now 5-0
The Atom Teal Roadrunners won two more close games to continue an amazing start to the season!!
On Nov 11th the Atom Teal Roadrunners travelled to Ayr to battle with a the strong Ayr Rockets Team. The Roadrunners didn't waste any time and struck first with a amazing pass from Lorelai to Caitlin(1) who scored her first goal of the season!! The Rockets and Roadrunners battled hard for the balance of the 1st period and the Rockets tied up the game with 1 minute left in the first. Although the first period would not end in a tie and with less then 4 seconds left the Roadrunners struck again. Cecilia(9) assisted by Makenzie. The 2nd period was a back and forth battle, but with less then 6 seconds left in the 2nd the Rockets would tie the game. The girls have been focusing on making the 3rd period their best period of each game. They would have to work very hard to win this period against a solid Rockets Team. The Roadrunners got the go ahead goal Cecilia(10), but the Rockets would tie the game again less then a minute after their goal. With time running out the girls focused their efforts and were able to get the go ahead goal again, Cecilia(11). With some great Defense and goaltending the Girls were able to hold off Ayr for the rest of the game. Great Battle girls against a Good Rockets Team!
On Nov 18th the Twin Centre Hericanes visited Cambridge and were confident they could stop our red hot Roadrunner team. In the first period the Hericanes came out strong and the roadrunners found themselves down by 2 goals. This was the first time this year the girls had found themselves down by 2 goals. It would get even tougher for the girls when the Hericanes scored again early in the 2nd to put them up 3-0. One thing this Roadrunner team never does is give up. They started their comeback halfway through the 2nd period when Cecilia(12), assisted by Sophie, would get the Roadrunners on the Scoreboard. It wasn't long after that Hailee(3) assisted by Lorelai would bring the Girls within one goal. The Roadrunners started the 3rd down by one goal and once again the Girls would need to play their best hockey in the 3rd. The Atom Teal girls were winning the puck battles, continuing to get chances, and Hailee(4) tied the game with only 6 mins left in the period. The Roadrunners weren't stopping there and 1 minute later Cecilia(13), assisted by Macie, would give the Roadrunners the lead for the first time in the game. The Hericanes weren't going down without a fight and tied the game with 3 mins left in the 3rd. The Roadrunners had worked too hard to settle for a tie and with their winning streak on the line they decided to push themselves. With 2 mins left Cecilia(14) put the Roadrunners ahead one more time and that would be enough. Roadrunners win 5-4 !!! What an amazing effort from the girls to come back and never give up. Amazing Game Girls!! Keep it up!!!
