Cambridge Atom Teal is going to the Finals!!
After a long and exciting season the Cambridge Atom Teal girls are going to the final this coming weekend.  They will take on the Kitchener Lady Rangers Red!!

The Roadrunners started off their 2nd half with two losses to the Kitchener Lady Rangers Red team.  Even with a Gold medal performance in the Cambridge Tournament, the girls needed to improve on their 2nd half if they wanted to make it to the semi-finals.  The A Group was filled with six very good hockey teams.  Two teams from Waterloo, Kitchener and Cambridge.

On Feb 10th, Teal would have a rematch against Cambridge Silver.  These games are always close and this one was no different.  This game would end in a 2-2 tie with goals to Lorelai(19), and Cecilia(35), and assists to sophie, macie and Claire.  Next up was Kitchener Lady Rangers Blue on Feb 11th.  The girls had not faced this team yet this season and was not sure what to expect.  After a very close checking game and a few missed opportunities the girls lost 2-1.  Lone goal to Lorelai(20).  It was at this point that the coaches challenged these girls to be better.  We were 0-1-3 in our first 4 games of the 2nd half, and at this rate would not make the finals.  It was up to them to answer this challenge and get to the finals and answer they did!

Our next game was on Feb 20th against Waterloo #3.  With an amazing effort from all the girls the Roadrunners would get their first win of the 2nd half, 3-0.  Goals to Carissa(5), Sophie(4), Lorelai(21) assists to Nora, Caitlin, and Makenzie.  Kiera would get her 10th shutout of the season.   Next was another game against this tough Waterloo #3 team, this time on home ice.  The Ravens brought everything they had but the Roadrunners could not afford to lose.  The girls were able to get another win, 1-0.  Lone goal was by Sophie(5).  Kiera's 11th shutout.

The Roadrunners had officially started their win streak and were not going to settle for anything less then a spot in that final game of the year.  The next day the girls would face off against Waterloo Ravens#1, the same team that ended their chances in the Jason Cripps tournament.  This was not that same team, this Teal team was determined and came out on fire.  After a scoreless first period both teams were playing extremely well, but the Roadrunners were relentless and would end up winning 5-1.  Goals to Lorelai(26), Sydney(8).

The next game for these girls would be the 2nd game against Kitchener Blue.  After losing the first game the girls new they couldn't let this team sweep them in the 2nd half.  It was a very exciting back and forth game with both goalies making amazing saves.  The Roadrunners scored first in the 2nd period but Kitchener would answer back with 2 minutes left in the game to tie it up.  The girls would have to settle with a 1-1 tie against this very solid defensive Kitchener team.  Goals to Lorelai(27), assisted by Quynn.  The next day Teal would have their 2nd game against Waterloo #1.  After losing the first game to Cambridge the Ravens needed a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.  This game would go back and forth but the Roadrunners would end up on top at the end with a 3-2 win.  Goals to Sam(3), Sophie(6), and Lorelai(28), assists to Carissa, Macie, and Makenzie.

With an outstanding effort the Atom Teal roadrunners had found themselves in 3rd with one last season game against Cambridge Silver.  This game would show how far this team has come since the beginning of the year.  They would have to play the always tough silver team with a fill in Goalie.  Keira was ill and Hailee stepped up to backstop for the Roadrunners in this final season game.  The game was great, and the Atom Teal girls would end up with a 1-1 tie for their final game of the 2nd half.  Goal to Sophie(7).  They had answered the challenge and went 4-0-2 in their last 6 games to get themselves into a semi final against Cambridge Silver.

The semi final took place on Mar 24th in Cambridge.  These two teams have had such a close battle this entire season.  Atom teal record against Silver was 1-1-2 and Goals for/against are exactly the same.  Atom Teal did win the Cambridge Gold medal game against Silver but it was an amazing close 1-0 game.  Now the girls would have to play them in another very important game.  The game was just as intense as the previous 4 times these teams have met.  Everyone got to see two great teams battle for one spot.  It was a great display of athleticism, discipline and Sportsmanship.  In the end, the Atom Teal girls would win another close 1-0 game and advance to the Finals!!  Goal to Lorelai(29).  Keira got her 12th shutout!

Great Job Roadrunners!!!! Lets try for one more Win!!!!
