Teal Roadrunners start season with a win!!
The Atom Teal Roadrunners started their season with a home game against the Waterloo Ravens #2 Team.  The Girls were a bit nervous, and for a few players this was their first Hockey game ever!  The game was at the Cambridge Ice Center in front of a large crowd.

The Ravens came out flying, scoring their first goal within the first minute of play.  After that first goal against, our girls were able to settle their nerves and played great for the remainder of the first period.

In the second period out girls continued to play a strong game.  Our defense was able to shut down the ravens attack.  While our offense continued to pressure the ravens in their own zone.  Carissa finally placed the RoadRunners on the score sheet late in the 2nd period, when she fired a loose puck into the back of the Ravens net for her first goal of the season!!

With the game tied going into the third period the Roadrunners knew they would have to work very hard for a win against this tough Ravens team.  The third period was full of action at both ends, and both goalies were playing great!  The Girls continued to win battles for pucks and skate hard and by the mid point of the third period it paid off.  With the constant pressure from the forwards, Cecilia was able to get the go ahead goal for the Roadrunners.  Before the Ravens were able to fully recover from letting in the 2nd goal, Cecilia scored another goal 8 seconds later to put the Roadrunners up by two, and scoring her 2nd goal of the season.  Waterloo wasn't going down without a fight and they continued to pressure the girls.  With 3 mins left in the game the Ravens struck again gettting their second and cutting the girls lead to one goal, but that's as close as they would get.  The Atom teal Roadrunners went on to win their Home opener 3-2 over the Waterloo Ravens #2.

Great Job Girls!!!  Go Roadrunners Go!!
