Team with Heart
After not playing for two weeks we had to play two games this weekend.  Rust was showing a bit on Saturday when Waterloo scored first and they had a 4-2 lead after two periods...

After a few words of encouragement in the second intermision our girls got their legs under them and started to battle back..After Leah's inspiring "go to the net" hard fought goal late in the second, Brier turned up the jets and popped in our third goal unassited.  Following that Taylor had a nice rush and tied it up with 10 minutes left in the third.  Both teams exchanged chances in the third and the game ended in a tie thanks to our goalie Alexia with a big breakaway save with under two minutes left in the game.  Great comeback and team effort had by all!!

Game two on Sunday saw us travel to Stratford for a tilt vs the Aces.  I love that rink as it's on Morenz Drive after the late Habs great Howie Morenz who was from Stratford.  Yes that was in the pre-game speech..lol Go Habs Go..

All though Stratford is not in the top of the standings man did they come out battling us today.  We managed to get the first goal by Kimberley from a great pass by Taylor but they tied it up shortly after. We took the lead again, and they tied it up again.  Found ourselves down after the first period but once again this team dug deep and kept at it.  Today everyone was involved and touched the puck.  Some great defensive plays lead by Claire which helped keep the game close.  Rebecca playing her first game on forward did great and Elyssa was battling very hard for the puck today as well.  Cassandra had a "game changing shift" when i asked her to watch the Aces best player she stuck to her like glue and battled her although the Stratford player was a foot taller than Cassandra.  That was Heart! Then we hit the score sheet.  "hats off" to Brier again with another Hat Trick!!  Taylor with two goals, Candence and Victoria with goals and getting her very first career goal with a blast from the point was Rylee!!  That earned Ryelee our Player of the Game Hat..Way to go Ryelee!!!  Also many chipped in with assists today and our goalie Alexia had a solid effort inbewteen the pipes.  As mentioned, everyone contributed in today's 9-3 victory.  And we had too as the Aces battled hard.

Great job this weekend ladies and we expect to see all at practice on Saturday.

Have a great week!!
