U11 AA - Evaluation Skate Process
Knowing that this is the first time many families have gone through formal tryouts, coupled with the fact that they can be stressful for both athletes and their families, the coaching staff felt it was important to outline the process for player selection.

All players who have registered for tryouts – either as members of the CrGHA or as potential imports to the association – are welcome to participate in these skates. All participants must have registered via RAMP for the appropriate tryout package, and those not currently registered as members of the CrGHA are required to provide Permission to Skate (PTS) forms from the association they most recently played for. These can be acquired by contacting your most recent association. Non-CrGHA players who do not provide a PTS from their association will not be permitted to skate.

Scheduled skate times are as follows:

Friday Sept 9th: 6:30pm – 7:30pm @ Hespeler 2
Saturday Sept 10th: 12:00pm – 1:00pm @ Hespeler 2
Sunday Sept 11th: 3:30pm – 4:30pm @ Hespeler 2 (Inter-Squad Game)
Monday Sept 12th: 5:00pm - 6:00pm @ Hespeler 1

*Additional times may be added

Following each session, the coaching staff will release players from the evaluation process who are not being selected to play on the U11 AA team this season. Player releases will be updated via the Roadrunner website prior to the next skate. Those players who receive a release will be invited to attend the U11 BB/B tryout sessions and are strongly encouraged to do so. Parents are asked to check the website before attending each skate to ensure that their daughter has been invited to the next scheduled session.

Each on ice session will consist of a series of drills designed to allow players to demonstrate their skill set relative to other players. Emphasis will be placed on skating, edge work, puck handling skills and compete level. Player evaluations will be completed by the coaching staff in conjunction with a series of independent evaluators who each have a long and successful history with youth hockey.

Coaches will make themselves available before/after each session to answer questions – but will not be addressing individual evaluations or player placement during the evaluation period.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the rink!
