Bantam Orange is Gold!
Over the weekend of February 23, the Bantam Orange team participated in the Oakville Hornets Tournament.

This was the third tournament for Team Orange.  Previously, we lost in the Semis of the Cripps and were silver medalists in CrGHA’s own Challenge tourney.

Over our short time together this season, we have been fortunate to have some success and, some would argue, more than our share of results that were not really indicative of the character and continued drive that our players have demonstrated. Some of us began to question why the Hockey gods refused to give us what we thought was our fair share.  They were obviously testing our resilience.

We took our full roster on the road to Oakville to participate in a tournament involving 15 other Bantam teams from across Ontario.  Orange represented CrGHA well; going with 2 wins and an overtime loss through the round robin.  We followed that performance with three thrilling wins; the Quarters in regulation, the Semis in Overtime and attaining the Gold Medal in a Shoot-out win.  We had to pass though several big and strong teams from Oakville, Leaside, Waterloo and, strangely enough, both formidable entrants from Lasalle.

Even though Sasha, Jasey, Holly, Kaity, and Caitlin were recognized for specific contributions to our success, we could still go through our entire roster and identify several instances where each player provided significant value towards our success.  It truly was a team effort.  Offensive contributions from Chloe and Aliyah were only made possible because of strong partnerships with Kimberley, Olivia, Clara, Hailey, Riley, Emma and Abby.  There was no supporting cast or passengers… all were leaders; on both sides of the puck, on and off the ice.

Congratulations on the gold Orange… You have demonstrated that if one and all continue to work hard, stay positive and strive to play the right way (thanks Babs), you will eventually be rewarded for your hard work!

BTW, that’s coach Blair’s happy face in the picture.
