Coaching Development and Certification

 

Overview

Hockey Canada’s National Coach Certification Program (NCCP) is a competency-based program. The program enables coaches to build their coaching tools and knowledge of the game, so they can work effectively with their players.

Coaches enter a ‘stream’ of coaching by taking part in clinics that are relative to the athletes that they are working with. Please contact the High Performance Development Director to determine what course would be most appropriate for you or review the Certification Requirements below:

A list of available clinics can be found via the HCR - Hockey Canada Registry. Those interested in participating in a clinic should select the OHF (Ontario Hockey Federation) as their home association from the drop down at the top of the screen and filter available courses (left hand side) as needed.

When selecting an appropriate stream for learning it is important to be aware of the OWHA Team Staff Qualification Requirements to ensure proper qualifications for the desired level of coaching. These requirements can be found below:
