Atom DS Wins Bronze in Orangeville!!
Following in the footsteps of the Novice and PeeWee DS teams who had earlier secured bronze medals, the Atom DS roadrunners capped off a great weekend of hockey with a 2-0 win over the Caledon Coyotes in the bronze medal game at the Orangeville Winter Classic.

The girls started the weekend off with a tough 1-0 loss in a defensive battle against the Grand River Mustangs but punched their ticket to the semi finals by bouncing back with 3-0 and 6-1 wins over the North Halton Twisters and Etobicoke Dolphins. A 2-2 tie with the Orangeville Tigers in the final round robin game set up a rematch with Orangeville in the semi finals and was a prelude to the tight battle that was to come. After a 1-1 tie in regulation, 4 on 4 and 3 on 3 overtimes couldn't decide it so off to a shootout they went. It took each team 6 shooters before Orangeville put one in to take the game 2-1. Despite the tough semi final loss the girls were able to regroup and jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the bronze medal game, a lead that they would never relinquish. Over the course of the tournament goals were scored by Addison (4), Cecilia (3), Lorelai (3), Sydney, Kylie, Easton and Hailee and assists went to Caitlin (3), Cecilia, Easton and Lorelai. Our defence and goaltender Keira were solid from start to finish in producing 2 shutouts and allowing only 5 goals over the course of 6 games.

Congratulations Atom DS roadrunners! And thank you to all the parents and family members that braved the weather and made the weekend a success. We look forward to this being a stepping stone to continued development and success for the team this season.
