Submitted By roadrunners Hockey on Sunday, January 28, 2018
At the 24th CrGHA New Year’s Challenge Cup in Cambridge, Ontario

Thursday, January 18, 2018-Sunday, January 21, 2018

The Bantam Teal was undefeated during the tournament with round robin wins over the Lakeshore Lightning 4-1, the Ancaster Avalance 6-1, and the Cambridge roadrunners Bantam Orange 2-1.

The roadrunners Orange and Teal met again in the finals, with goalies Kaitlyn PAPADOPOULOS (Orange) and Victoria RITCHIE (Teal) producing shutouts during regulation.
The 3 on 3 overtime was exciting with scoring chances at both ends, but both goalies continued to have clean sheets.
The shootout lasted 8 rounds with goals by Paige SNOW (Teal), and Holly PELLEGRINO  (Orange). The winning goal was scored by Nicole TAKACS (Teal).
The match was the highlight of the season for the Teal team and possibly the highlight of the tournament.
Congratulations to both teams on an incredible game, and your parents for supporting your efforts to have fun and play hockey
