Help the Hearn Family
A member of the roadrunner family is currently facing a serious health battle.

Reaching out today is one of the hardest things the Hearn family has ever had to do, but they’ve come to understand that strength sometimes comes from asking for help.

As many know, Darryl Hearn is facing significant health challenges. He is currently in Stage 4 Advanced Kidney Failure, and without a live kidney donor, he will continue to rely on dialysis. While dialysis can sustain life, it feels more like surviving than truly living. A living donor transplant is Darryl’s best option, as kidneys from living donors typically last longer and function better than those from deceased donors. Unfortunately, finding a match can be difficult, and the waitlist for a deceased donor can take 4 to 5 years.

Because of this, the Hearn family is reaching out to friends, relatives, and the broader community in hopes that someone might consider becoming a living kidney donor. 💞

Here are some key things to know:

  • Direct Match – A compatible blood type is needed (Darryl is O+), along with a clean bill of health.

  • Confidential Testing – Anyone considering donation can begin the process privately by contacting the Living Donor Team at London Health Sciences Centre at 519-663-3552. They’ll provide guidance through every step. More information can also be found here: https://linktr.ee/findakidney

  • Paired Donor Option – If a potential donor has a different blood type but is still interested, a paired donor exchange may be possible. This would involve matching with another donor/recipient pair to ensure compatibility.

Becoming a donor is a deeply personal decision, and the family fully understands it’s not possible for everyone. Even if someone can’t donate, simply sharing Darryl’s story could help connect them with a potential match.

The Hearn family is incredibly grateful for the support, prayers, and encouragement from their community. Every message, every act of kindness, and every shared word gives them strength in this challenging time.
