The Cambridge roadrunners Girls' Hockey Association is pleased to announce their travel coaches for the 2013-2014 season.

We look forward to working with this group of highly skilled coaches to further develop the roadrunner program.

Tryout dates have been posted and can be viewed by clicking on this link > Tryout Schedule.

Tryouts for the Novice A, Atom BB/B and Intermediate A/B teams will be held in September 2013.

Novice A - Dennis Cassidy

Dennis has held many head coach and assistant coach positions over the years, most recently helping out the roadrunners Novice DS team as an assistant coach.

At the Novice level, Dennis is a strong believer of skill development and using a positive approach to coaching to achieve individual player goals which will lead to a strong team performance.

Atom AA - Shawn Maltby

After his minor hockey days playing for the Hespeler Shamrocks, Shawn spent his junior years with the Kitchener Dutchmen before moving on to play professional hockey throughout North America and Europe. This past season he was the Head Coach of the Novice A team who have won 2 gold medals and one silver in tournaments.  They will be participating in the LLFHL Final Four Tournament as well as Provincials.

Shawn will be providing each player with a solid hockey foundation, focusing on basic fundamentals while teaching fair play, sports etiquette and team building.

Peewee AA - Frank D'Arcy

Frank has many years of experience both on the ice and behind the bench.  He has led past roadrunner teams to championships while developing each player’s skills and knowledge of the game.

Frank believes in the philosophy that ‘Youth sports should serve as a cornerstone in the development of character, leadership and self-esteem.’

Bantam AA - Ryan D'Arcy

Ryan's playing and coaching experiences, gives him the skills to bring out the best in his players. To name a few, Ryan has been Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations of Calvin College MCHA, Assistant coach at the University of Waterloo, Head Coach of the Provincial Champions, Waterloo Ravens Peewee AA, and Head Coach of 2011-2012 Provincial Silver medalist roadrunner Atom A. During his playing days some of the teams Ryan was a part of the Cambridge Hornets Senior A team (2004-2005), Team Canada National Team (1998-1999), HC LA Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland (1998-1999), LSC Vinschgua, Italy (1997-1998), Life University (1995-1997) and Western Michigan University, NCAA (1991-1994).

Ryan will emphasize Skill Development, Work Ethic, a Competitive Spirit, and Team Atmosphere this year with the Bantam AA team.

Midget AA – Jim Harding

Jim was an Assistant Coach with the roadrunners Bantam AA team this past year.  Previous to that he has been a Head Coach of the Cambridge Hawks Minor Bantam AAA team, a video Coach with the Cambridge Hawks Bantam AAA and has held Assistant Coaching positions over the past few years with the Cambridge Hawks.

Jim looks forward to providing an environment to his team that allows each player to fulfill their maximum potential this year that will lead them to their next steps in their hockey careers.

Midget A/BB – Kevin Warner

Kevin grew up playing hockey in the Hespeler Minor Hockey Association.  He played 3 years of varsity hockey with Conestoga College and won the OCAA Championship in his final year with the team.

He has been a head coach for the roadrunners for six seasons and an assistant coach for 3.  Most recently, Kevin was an Assistant Coach of this past year’s Bantam AA team.

We welcome Kevin back to the head coach position and we look forward to Kevin's leadership as the girls continue through the roadrunners' development program.
