Update regarding COVID-19
Hi Folks,

I hope everyone is well and staying safe. The most important information we can share at this time is our best wishes to our members and their families. The priority of the Cambridge roadrunners Girls' Hockey Association and the OWHA is the health and safety of all of our members.

We know that people are anxiously waiting to find out the status of hockey for the 2020/2021 season. We had a Conference Call with the OWHA last week and were provided with the following updates:

  • At this point, there are still no definitive answers as to what will happen next season. The OWHA is working with the Ontario Government, medical professionals and Hockey Canada. The return to hockey is driven by these authorities;
  • As of now, there is no sanctioned hockey, no tryouts and no return date. Therefore, Associations are not allowed to form teams and we are not permitted to provide Permission to Skate forms;
  • the OWHA have said to hope for the return of hockey in September. However, they don’t know yet if that will happen. It will depend on the Government, medical professionals and Hockey Canada. Other options being discussed are a season starting in January, no season at all or community based hockey;
  • At this point, they don't know if there will be Provincial Championships or tournaments next season.

The OWHA have reminded us that we are all in this together and the health and safety of our players and families are of utmost importance. They will continue to hold conference calls and webinars to update the Associations. CrGHA will also continue to provide updates to its membership as information becomes available. As a result of Co-vid 19 and a Provincial State of Emergency being declared, we have to postpone our Annual General Meeting. We will post a new date on our website once it has been determined,

We wish everyone continued health and hope to see everyone at a rink sometime soon.
