The girls had an excellent weekend of hockey in Durham West at the
Bolts & Hearts Tournament, picking up their first two wins of the season before bowing out in the semi-finals to Clarington. Congratulations to the Mississauga Chiefs, who defeated Ayr and Clarington on the way to the gold medal! Thank you to our hosts the Durham West Lightning for an excellent weekend!
The girls all played well, showing what they are capable of when they keep their feet moving and rely on their teammates for support. Alana (
five goals) and Jenna (four goals) led the way offensively, with Camryn coming through with the goal that had us dreaming of finals early on against Clarington. Elizabeth (three assists) and Elyssa (two assists) were the leading "helpers", while all the other girls had their chances.
The defense was steady, limiting the opposition to only two goals per game, and although Meghan didn't have her best game in the semi's, she picked up her first shutout of the season in the round robin game that put us into the semi's.
A well played weekend by all the girls, well done everyone. Now back to practice this week so we can get better and get ready for a strong finish to the DS season!
